“The Whole Truth & Nothing but the Truth” about reviews…
The internet is nothing short of fantastic… in our busy lives it provides information, entertainment and much more. Unfortunately, there are some drawbacks we must be concerned with…spam e-mails, internet viruses, possible identity theft etc. Well we want to bring to your attention another wonderful internet service that has some incredible flaws. The original intentions were great but as with many other things that start out cool, money & greed changed the intent!!
Consumer Reviews….They’re Not All What They Appear to Be
Today, there are hundreds of personal review sites where consumers can review their experiences with just about anything; from restaurants to plumbers to medical practices. Some of the better known sites are Yelp, Google, Yahoo, AOL, Angie’s List, Amazon, Shopzilla, and E-Bay. How do these sites work? What are the criteria (if any) to post?
Here the “rules” are all over the board.
Some sites have no rules, others have a minimum of reviews required before they will post and some even charge the reviewer a nominal fee to become a reviewer. Some sites allow merchants to purchase advertising on their sites with a certain amount of favoritism concerning their own posted consumer reviews. Isn’t it strange that unsolicited reviews can be influenced by money?
We’ve been at this a long time and have worked & advertised with just about everyone. Awhile ago we re-thought this strategy and elected to stop advertising on these types of review sites. Was this decision based on “sour grapes”? No it wasn’t, we just got tired of playing the “game.” When we stopped our advertising with some of these sites we started noticing a lot more negative reviews (some absolutely vicious), the dropping of positive reviews etc. etc.
We’re not perfect but we always resolve any issue we are aware of to our patients’ satisfaction. That was and is one of the problems….we couldn’t resolve a problem even if we were at fault. That’s right, most of the major sites will not allow a business to respond, won’t let you contact the reviewer to make things right or remove a totally fabricated review. Also, there is no way to determine if the bloggers are real patients and not competitors or even “Hired Bloggers”? Yes there is an industry for people for hire that will review anything….good or bad.
On this site we have posted “real” testimonials from our patients. We’ve included their full names and the town they are from, with their permission. Our overall success rates for both treatment and patient satisfaction are the best in the industry.
Many people “talk the talk” but few “walk the walk”
Thank you.
